The Ross County Youth Corps meets at the chapter house on the first Sunday of each month at 2 p.m. New volunteers are welcome to attend. Contact Judy Ferris at 772-2014 for more information. Youth have been an integral part of the Red Cross since the founding of the Junior Red Cross in 1917. About Your Local ChapterThe First Capital District Chapter of the American Red Cross was founded on June 2, 1917. Mary McCord is the current Executive Director and supervises over 300 local volunteers. The chapter is responsible for a variety of community services, including responding to disasters, training citizens in disaster preparedness, providing education on health & safety topics, coordinating blood drives and assisting with armed forces emergency services. Call the Chapter House at 740-772-2014 to sign up for disaster preparedness courses. * American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.
